Meri Bhavna (Universal Goodwill Hymn)
Composed by Pandit Jugal Kishore Mukhtar • Hindi (Kavitta Meter)
The definitive daily contemplation of modern Digambara Jainism, encapsulating universal friendship (*Maitri*), compassion for suffering beings (*Karuna*), joy in virtuous souls (*Pramoda*), and equanimity towards the hostile (*Madhyastha*).
He who conquered attachment, aversion, and passions, knowing the cosmos in its entirety, and selflessly proclaimed the path to liberation for all living beings—call Him Buddha, Vira, Jina, Hari, or Brahma—may my consciousness remain eternally absorbed in Him with pure devotion.
They who harbor no craving for sensory pleasures, whose sole wealth is equanimity, who untiringly strive day and night for the spiritual elevation of self and others; such enlightened Digambara ascetics truly dispel the sorrow of the world.
May my heart forever cherish simple, truthful dealings with all; may I benefit others as far as life permits. May I abide in universal friendship with all beings, and may an unceasing stream of compassion pour from my soul toward the afflicted.
