Barah Bhavna (Twelve Sacred Contemplations)
Composed by Pandit Mangat Rai (Canonical Agamic Roots) • Hindi (Kavitta / Doha)
The twelve fundamental contemplations of Digambara spirituality designed to cultivate detachment (*Vairagya*): Anitya (impermanence), Asarana (helplessness), Samsara (transmigration), Ekatva (solitude), Anyatva (distinctness of soul from body), Asauca (impurity of body), Asrava, Samvara, Nirjara, Loka, Bodhidurlabha, and Dharma.
Monarchs, emperors, and commanders riding mighty elephants—all must inevitably meet death when their allotted lifespan exhausts. Nothing in this material world is eternal except the pure conscious soul.
Armies, celestial deities, mother, father, or kin—none can shelter the soul at the moment of departure. True virtue (Dharma) and Right Faith alone are the unfailing refuge.
