Jain Muni Locator - Contributor Guidelines
Thank you for contributing to Jain Muni Locator! JML is a crowdsourced community platform dedicated to providing accurate and verified real-time locations and biographical details for Digambara Jain Monks and Nuns.
To maintain international data quality standards and ensure reliability, please follow these guidelines when submitting updates:
1. Monastic Location (Vihar/Chaturmas) Updates
- Verification: All location submissions must include a verifiable source (e.g., photo of the vihar, official community announcement, WhatsApp group reference, or temple authority confirmation).
- Coordinates: When suggesting a location, provide the exact temple or Dharamshala name. If possible, submit GPS coordinates (latitude/longitude) for accuracy.
- Timeframe: Location updates must be current. If submitting historical chaturmas data, specify the calendar year.
2. Biographical Profiles
- Accuracy: Biographical updates (birth name, birth date, mother/father names, initiation dates) must match historical references or printed biographies of the ascetic.
- Formatting:
- Names: Always prefix names with their official upadhi (e.g., Acharya, Elacharya, Muni, Aryika) using correct spelling.
- Dates: Use standard
YYYY-MM-DDformat. If the exact day is unknown, partial formats likeYYYY-00-00are acceptable.
3. Images and Photos
- Copyright: Only upload images that you own or have permission to distribute. Do not upload copyrighted watermarked images.
- Quality: Photos should be clear, centered, and represent the monastic respectfully.
4. Moderation & Review
- All crowdsourced submissions are placed in a staging queue for moderator approval.
- Our moderator team reviews each submission against reference standards before it is published to the public directory.
